Irritating “<< Unmatched" error in Unix shell

"<< Unmatched" error was irritating me but finally I found it.

# Some space after first column (This was giving error)

rman target / <<EOF

catalog archivelog ‘/arclocation/1_${archno}_777.arc’;

exit;

EOF

I changed it to following and it works like a charm.

Please note that there is no space after first column of the line.

# No space after first column. (Works like a charm)

rman target / <<EOF

catalog archivelog ‘/arclocation/1_${archno}_777.arc’;

exit;

EOF

FIX for connection drop to EC2 Databases

I have been researching a lot but not success with different options.

Finally this one worked.

Simple rule: Following parameter should be less than firewall timeout.

net.ipv4.tcp_keepalive_time=60

Default is 7200 seconds which is 2 hours and which was greater than firewall timeout which is 1 hour.

I set it to 1 minute and connections are not dropping any more.
