How to setup X11 forwarding in Putty using Xming

How to setup X11 forwarding in Putty using Xming

(1) Download and Install Putty on your PC

(2) Download and Install Xming on your PC

(3) Start Xming server

(4) Save the server you want to connect to in Putty in saved sessions

(5) Load the server you want to connect in putty

(6) In the left category pane, click on connections then SSH and then X11.

Check “Enable X11 forwarding” box

Enter “localhost:0” in “X display location box”

(7) In the left category pane go to top and select sessions

(8) Press save button

(9) Set following environment variable on the server

export DISPLAY=localhost:10.0

(10) Type xclock on the server and see if it appears

(11) If you get following error then execute the resolution steps.

Error:

Xlib: connection to "localhost:10.0" refused by server

Xlib: PuTTY X11 proxy: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 data did not match

Error: Can’t open display: localhost:10.0

Resolution:

Server> su – root

Server> xauth list

(Note: It will product following output)

10-111-11-11/unix:10 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 cf4967d5a6c0e6d5f33285aa0e483643

Server> su – oracle

(Note: Add entire output using “xauth add” command)

Server> xauth add 10-111-11-11/unix:10 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 cf4967d5a6c0e6d5f33285aa0e483643
